The Directorate General of Taxes, represented by Director General Bimo Wijayanto, reported that import VAT collections reached Rp258.68 trillion through October 2025. This amount reflects a 16 percent increase over the same period last year.
The rise is driven by higher imports of large‑scale goods such as machinery, automobiles, and by growing demand for hosting services and server‑space rentals. In contrast, other taxes like income tax (PPh) Article 21, corporate income tax, and domestic VAT continued to contract.
Import VAT accounted for 17.7 percent of total tax revenue, which stood at Rp1.459 trillion, or 66.6 percent of the state budget target of Rp2.1893 trillion as of October 2025. Although overall tax receipts fell 7.1 percent year‑on‑year, the strong performance of import VAT mitigated the decline.
