Banten’s ETKI Special Economic Zone
December 14, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Education, Technology and Health International (ETKI) Special Economic Zone in Banten was officially declared ready to operate on 14 December 2025. The decision follows Government Regulation No. 38/2024 and was signed by the Head of the Business Development and Management Agency (BUPP) of KEK ETKI.
Readiness status grants investors access to incentives such as duty exemptions, waiver of Import Tax (PDRI), exemption from luxury goods tax (PPnBM), corporate income tax relief, and streamlined customs facilities. The Head of Customs and Excise Facilities at the Banten Regional Office affirmed the customs authority’s commitment to provide assistance and simplified services. These incentives aim to lower investment and operating costs.
So far, 12 companies are prepared to start activities, including international clinics, health laboratories, and global education institutions like BINUS University and Monash University. The KEK ETKI is expected to attract investment, create jobs, and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s industry. Authorities view the zone as a catalyst for regional economic growth.
