Ticket and Shopping Discounts Boost Consumption in Q4 2025

JAKARTA – The government, represented by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, announced a series of ticket‑price and shopping discount programs aimed at raising household consumption in the fourth quarter of 2025. The measures include price cuts for rail, sea, ferry and air travel, as well as promotional sales for offline malls and online platforms.

A partnership with Hippindo launched the BINA Great Sale, while Aprindo backs the EPIC Sale to boost offline retail across the country. For e‑commerce, the government supports idEA’s National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas) 2025, targeting at least a 10 % increase in transaction value to Rp35 trillion and a total December spending goal of Rp110 trillion. Transport discounts comprise 30 % off train tickets, 20 % off PELNI sea tickets, a full waiver of ferry port fees (averaging a 19 % discount), and a 13‑14 % reduction on airline tickets.

Hartarto estimates December consumption growth between 5.4 % and 5.6 %, which could act as a lever for national economic recovery. The stimulus also aims to involve 1,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) and raise the share of locally produced goods in transactions. Authorities will monitor the program’s impact through the end of the year.
