Indonesia Secures 300 Million Dollars ADB Loan for Road Project
December 3, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved a loan of 300 million US dollars, equivalent to about Rp4.98 trillion, for Indonesia. The loan was announced on 3 December 2025 and will fund a road infrastructure project on the south coast of Java.
The 72‑km road is being built with climate‑resilient designs, such as enhanced hydraulic capacity and bio‑engineering solutions, to withstand floods and landslides. It aims to bridge the infrastructure gap between the well‑connected northern corridor of Java and the less‑served southern region.
The new road is expected to cut travel time between Jember and Banyuwangi by roughly two hours, improving market access, public services, and economic opportunities. The project aligns with Indonesia’s RPJPN 2025‑2045 and the ADB‑Indonesia partnership strategy for 2025‑2029.
