JAKARTA, November 9, 2025 – Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto announced that Indonesia will expand cooperation with Russia in maritime education, logistics and infrastructure. The statement was made during the visit of Russian Maritime Federation Chairman Nikolai Patrushev to Jakarta.

Hartarto noted Russia’s strength in maritime knowledge and technology, making it a strategic partner for developing Indonesia’s human resources in ocean engineering. Russia also offered to develop sea‑logistics infrastructure and transfer shipbuilding technology through training programs at leading maritime institutes in St. Petersburg.

The expected agreement could enable more Indonesian students to study at Russian engineering universities, fostering innovation and improving connectivity across regions. The initiative aligns with Indonesia’s national priority to strengthen the maritime sector as an engine of economic growth.
