Indonesia Pursues Hyundai Partnership for EcoâVehicle Project

Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto said Indonesia will explore an investment partnership with Hyundai Motor Group, the South Korean automaker. The discussion took place during his meeting with Hyundai President Amb Sung Kim at the APEC summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, on 2 November 2025.
The collaboration is expected to focus on hydrogenâpowered vehicles and other cleanâenergy technologies as part of Indonesiaâs greenâeconomy transition strategy. Hyundai also expressed interest in joint work on AI, robotics and lowâemission mobility solutions.
If realized, the project could boost the competitiveness of the national automotive sector and reinforce Indonesiaâs role as a regional automotive hub. The ongoing transformation of stateâowned enterprises into a superâholding, Danantara, is seen as a positive signal for global investors.
