Airlangga Urges Kadin to Open Internship Slots for New Graduates
December 7, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Economy Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto urged members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to open internship opportunities for fresh graduates. He made the appeal at the Kadin national meeting in Jakarta on 7 December 2025, targeting 100,000 internship participants.
The internship scheme is part of the Q4 2025 economic stimulus package, with the government covering the municipal minimum wage (UMK) for a six‑month period. Batch 1 began in October 2025 for 20,000 participants, followed by Batch 2 in November 2025 for 80,000, yet many companies remain reluctant to provide slots.
Application demand is intense, with a single vacancy attracting 500‑700 candidates, reflecting strong interest from new graduates. Expanded placement offers could accelerate the absorption of young talent into the labour market.
