November 11, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

On 11 November 2025, West Kotawaringin Regent Nurhidayah announced the rollout of Tapping Box, a digital tax payment device, in the district of Kotawaringin Barat, Central Kalimantan. The system enables businesses and taxpayers to pay taxes online with automatic transaction recording.
Tapping Box targets Specific Goods and Services Tax, covering restaurants, hotels, cafés, karaoke, spas, entertainment venues, and parking services. To date, 51 units have been installed out of a planned 245, with 65 units purchased directly by the Regional Revenue Agency and 180 units funded by Bank Kalteng, allowing real‑time monitoring of transactions.
The local government expects the system to improve revenue accuracy, curb tax leakage, and strengthen the district’s fiscal autonomy. Greater transparency is intended to boost tax compliance among businesses and citizens, thereby supporting regional development.
