Tabanan Regent Vows Property Tax Waiver for Jatiluwih Rice Fields
December 8, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Tabanan Regent Komang Gede Sanjaya announced that the regency will waive the rural and urban property tax (PBB‑P2) for rice‑field land in the Jatiluwih subak starting in 2026.
The pledge follows an audience with local farmers and tourism‑accommodation owners after the Bali DPRD’s Spatial Planning Committee sealed 13 stalls that were deemed to violate land‑use rules because they were located in the UNESCO World Heritage subak. Farmers presented eight demands, including allowing existing facilities to continue operating and adjusting spatial regulations for Jatiluwih.
Exempting the tax reduces the fiscal burden on farmers, while the regency will purchase rice, red rice and horticultural products through the regional company (Perusda) at government‑set prices, giving producers sales certainty and supporting the local economy.
