NTB Tax Office Flags Central‑Regional Data Gap in Hotel Sector
November 11, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

On 4 November 2025, the NTB Tax Office held a tax discussion in Mataram. The meeting was chaired by the regional head, Samon Jaya, and attended by local government officials and hotel industry representatives.
The forum highlighted discrepancies between central and regional tax data for the hotel‑restaurant sector in Lombok Utara Regency. Samon Jaya noted that the data gap hampers optimal tax collection, and the office will strengthen cooperation with local authorities, the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), and hotel groups to align reporting.
The initiative aims to boost Indonesia’s tax‑to‑GDP ratio, which remains below the global average, and curb fraud that exploits tax authority names. Coordination with Bank Indonesia, the Prosecutor’s Office, and the Regional Disaster Management Agency will further enhance transparent oversight.
