Finance Minister Purbaya to Audit Tax of Balpres Importers
December 8, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced that he will audit the tax compliance of parties supporting illegal balpres clothing imports. The statement was made during a meeting with the House Commission XI on 8 December 2025 in Jakarta. He aims at importers who appear to have avoided tax payments.
Purbaya noted that many balpres importers file SPT (tax returns) showing a nil status for five consecutive years, indicating no tax has been paid. The illegal inflow is said to harm the domestic textile industry. The government plans to place non‑compliant importers on a blacklist.
The audit seeks to enforce tax obligations and curb the entry of illegal used clothing into the market. Violators may face administrative penalties and be barred from future imports. Authorities will continue monitoring and act on the audit findings.
