On 28 November 2025, the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes in Yogyakarta handed a company director and another suspect to the district prosecutor. They are accused of filing VAT (Value‑Added Tax) returns for 2018 that were false or incomplete.
Investigators found that the director of CV GSI (initials JBA) failed to submit VAT returns for January‑October 2018 and submitted falsified returns for November‑December 2018, violating Article 39 paragraph (1) letters c, d and i of the General Tax Provisions Law. The co‑suspect (initials YAP) is alleged to have received the collected VAT but did not remit it to the state, causing a loss of approximately IDR 3.1 billion.
Both individuals face up to six years in prison and the seizure of assets such as land, buildings and motor vehicles. The enforcement aims to create a deterrent effect for other taxpayers and safeguard state revenue.
