Ambon City Collects Vehicle Tax, Gains Rp20.5 Billion Opsen
November 9, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

On 9 November 2025, the Ambon City government carried out a vehicle tax (PKB) sweep together with the Ambon Police and Jasa Raharja. The sweep targeted taxpayers who had not paid their motor vehicle tax.
The PKB opsen, an additional revenue share from unpaid tax, is crucial as the city receives 66 % of the assessed tax value. By the third quarter of 2025, Ambon had collected Rp20.54 billion in opsen—93.37 % of its budget target—and recovered arrears from 1,268 vehicles amounting to Rp262.43 million.
Deputy Mayor Ely Toisutta highlighted the need for inter‑governmental cooperation to strengthen regional original revenue (PAD) as central‑government transfers decline. Strengthening PAD is intended to enhance fiscal independence and sustain local development projects.
