Transport Ministry Cuts Christmas Fares to Boost Connectivity
November 3, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Transport Ministry announced a reduction in domestic flight fares for travel between 22 December 2025 and 10 January 2026. The measure targets the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holiday period.
The cut includes a 6 % value‑added tax (VAT) on tickets, a 2 % reduction in jet fuel surcharge and a 20 % reduction in propeller‑type aircraft surcharge, as well as a 50 % cut to passenger service and landing‑fee charges. Fuel prices at 37 airports will also be lowered. These adjustments aim to match the surge in travel demand during the year‑end holidays.
More affordable fares are expected to keep inter‑regional mobility smooth while airlines add schedules and deploy larger aircraft. The government, airlines and airport operators will cooperate to apply the policy consistently.
