Taxpayers Activate Coretax Accounts Ahead of 2025 Filing

Ahead of the 2025 deadline for filing SPT (Annual Tax Return), the Directorate General of Taxes requires taxpayers to activate a Coretax account, an integrated digital filing system. Activation is done by logging in with the taxpayer’s ID number (NIK), setting a new password, and confirming via email.

Taxpayers such as Puput in Semarang have activated their accounts since September to avoid system queues, while others like Arif started only after receiving an activation email. For civil servants, the Ministry of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform issued Circular No 7/2025 mandating account activation and creation of an authorization code (electronic certificate) by 31 December 2025, accompanied by office‑wide briefings and technical assistance.

The prepopulated data feature, which auto‑fills income and withheld tax information, is expected to speed up filing and reduce errors when Coretax becomes mandatory on 1 January 2026. The tax authority has conducted stress tests and educated over 13 million taxpayers through classes, video tutorials, and simulators to ensure a smooth transition and compliance.
