Tax Authority Pushes Data Sharing to Strengthen Mining Oversight

Jakarta, 11 December 2025 – Tax Director Bimo Wijayanto called for cross‑agency cooperation to tighten oversight of the mineral and coal (minerba) sector and palm‑oil industry. He announced that the Directorate General of Taxation (DGT) will open data access to stakeholders in accordance with existing regulations. The data exchange will be provided without revealing personal identifiers.
Bimo explained that the data sharing is legally permitted and can be used for sector performance analysis, provided the information is anonymized. DGT has signed memoranda of understanding with the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal (Ditjen Minerba) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and with SKK Migas, requiring each mining taxpayer to obtain a tax clearance (certificate confirming tax obligations are met) before a Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) is approved. This aims to align tax bases with non‑tax revenue (PNBP) collections.
The data exchange is expected to boost transparency and accountability in the mining and palm‑oil industries. Greater data availability enables authorities to monitor compliance of both taxpayers and non‑tax revenue payers more effectively. DGT plans to make tax clearance mandatory for all RKAB submissions starting in 2026.
