The Ministry of Social Affairs, represented by Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), urged families receiving the temporary cash assistance (BLTS) of Rp900,000 not to misuse it. The statement was made in Jakarta on 13 December 2025.
BLTS aims to cover basic needs of beneficiaries, reaching 28 million households out of a target of 35 million in income deciles 1‑4. The minister stressed that the aid must not be spent on cigarettes, motorbike credit or online gambling, but on essentials such as children’s education or small‑business start‑ups.
Funding for BLTS comes from the state budget, with roughly 70 % of revenue derived from taxes. Proper use of the assistance is expected to improve household welfare and contribute to national economic growth.
