Police and Finance Ministry Uncover Duty Breach in 87 Tanjung
November 7, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance, through the Directorate General of Customs and Excise and the Directorate General of Taxation, together with the Satgassus OPN police task force, uncovered alleged export‑duty violations in 87 containers at Tanjung Priok port. The seizure took place between 20‑25 October 2025 and was announced on 7 November 2025.
PT MMS declared the cargo as fatty matter weighing 1,802 tonnes and valued at Rp28.7 billion, which under its licence was not subject to export duty. Laboratory analysis by Customs in cooperation with IPB, however, detected CPO derivatives, meaning the shipment should have incurred export duty and complied with export regulations.
The Ministry of Finance estimates the potential state loss at up to Rp140 billion due to under‑invoicing, and has expanded investigations to more than 300 similar containers. The action underscores the government’s effort to tighten palm‑oil export oversight and protect national revenue.
