NIK‑NPWP Matching Now Requires Tax Office Visit
December 3, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) announced that from 1 January 2025 taxpayers who have not matched their National Identification Number (NIK) with their Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) can no longer do it online. The matching must now be performed by staff at the nearest Tax Service Office (KPP).
Until 31 December 2024, the DGT’s online portal allowed self‑service matching of NIK to NPWP. The shift follows the policy that designates NIK as the NPWP for individuals, supporting the One Data Indonesia initiative.
Individuals must ensure their 16‑digit NIK is recorded as their NPWP to use digital tax platforms such as Coretax. Failure to match may result in the NPWP being classified as inactive.
