Mineral and Coal Mining Tax Arrears Reach 3 Trillion Rupiah

Indonesia’s Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) reported that tax arrears of companies in the mineral and coal mining sector total 3 trillion rupiah for the 2025 fiscal year. The figures were disclosed on 11 December 2025.
Director General Bimo Wijayanto said the amount could increase once pending tax disputes are resolved by the Tax Court, whether at the objection or appeal stage. He noted that roughly 2‑3 trillion rupiah is already classified as overdue, with additional cases under review. The DGT is now sharing data with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to link mining work‑plan submissions (RKAB) with tax records.
Under the new integration, mining firms must obtain a tax clearance certificate before submitting or renewing an RKAB, effectively tying licensing to tax compliance. The measure aims to boost state revenue, improve compliance, and promote fair competition in the minerba sector.
