KPPI Investigates Extension of Import Safeguard on Synthetic Yarn
December 2, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Indonesian Trade Security Committee (KPPI) launched an investigation on 2 December 2025 to extend the import safeguard on synthetic yarn following a request from the Indonesian Textile Association (API). The probe covers six HS codes, most of which are sourced from China and Vietnam.
API’s request cites serious losses suffered by domestic producers since 2022 and a risk of further damage. KPPI has issued a questionnaire for local manufacturers and importers, with responses due by 18 December 2025.
If the extension is approved, the customs duty imposed under Ministerial Decree No. 46/2023 will remain in effect for three years, affecting import costs and the competitiveness of Indonesia’s textile sector.
