Indonesia Tax Authority Reports Trillion Rupiah Mining Arrears
December 12, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) reported that tax arrears from mineral and coal mining companies in the current fiscal year total about three trillion rupiah. The amount reflects unpaid obligations by operators in the sector.
Tax Director Bimo Wijayanto said the arrears could rise as tax disputes are settled at the objection and appeal levels. DGT is also preparing an automatic cross‑jurisdictional property‑ownership data exchange under the IPI MCAA, slated for 2029, by strengthening databases and inter‑agency coordination.
These measures aim to boost compliance among large taxpayers, including high‑wealth individuals, and support fiscal sustainability. The Customs Directorate is also studying a 90‑day duty‑payment extension in 2026 to ease the burden on the tobacco industry.
