Indonesia’s Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) summoned about 1,000 high‑wealth individuals (HWI) to clarify data omitted from their Tax Return (SPT). The summons was announced by DGT Director Bimo Wijayanto at the KomPak event in Jakarta on 11 December 2025.
The DGT said it holds data that can serve as a benchmark for assessing taxpayer compliance, and it believes some HWI deliberately file incomplete SPTs, creating a fiscal policy paradox. These taxpayers are administered by the Large Taxpayer Service Office (KPP Besar Empat), which handles roughly 1,000 HWI cases.
The action aims to boost tax compliance, narrow income inequality, and improve fiscal management of high‑income taxpayers.
