JAKARTA – The Indonesian government, through Minister of Finance Regulations (PMK) No. 74/2021 up to PMK No. 26/2024, mandates that importers who receive rush handling services must fulfill their customs obligations within seven days.

The obligation includes payment of import duty, excise and/or tax (PDRI) and submission of the Import Declaration (PIB) to the customs office after the release order (SPPB) is issued. To obtain rush handling, importers must submit a complete application and provide a guarantee at least equal to the import duty and PDRI. After receiving the SPPB, the importer must submit the PIB and settle the duty and PDRI no later than seven days.

Failure to meet the deadline allows customs officials to release the guarantee, impose an administrative fine of ten percent of the duty, and prohibit the importer from using rush handling for sixty days. The rule aims to expedite clearance of critical goods while ensuring fiscal compliance, affecting import flows and state revenue.
