Government Accelerates Digital Tax Payment Services
November 29, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Deputy Minister of Economy Airlangga Hartarto announced the acceleration of digital tax and levy payments at the regional level. A total of 501 local governments, representing 91.8 % of all regions, have adopted digital ecosystems, with QRIS and e‑banking generating Rp75.3 trillion in collections through the first half of 2025.
National non‑cash transactions reached Rp642 trillion in September 2025, a 20.3 % increase over the same period last year, reflecting a shift toward online shopping. The government is expanding digital channels such as QRIS, Indonesian credit cards, and extending fiber‑optic and low‑earth‑orbit satellite coverage to the 3T (remote, frontier, outermost) areas. Tax data integration will link vehicle ownership, property tax objects, and match citizen ID numbers (NIK) with regional tax IDs (NPWP).
Strengthening digital services is expected to boost regional tax compliance and revenue quality. The plan also includes establishing general cash accounts for regions and offering incentives to taxpayers to support local development.
