Excise Stamp Personalization: 10‑Char Code for Verification
November 28, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Indonesian government imposes excise tax on specific goods such as ethanol, alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Payment of the tax is evidenced by an excise stamp, which serves as a security document attached to the product.
Excise stamp personalization is a 10‑character code assigned by DJBC when the NPPBKC (Excise Goods Business Registration Number) is issued; the first eight characters represent the manufacturer or importer name and the last two indicate a sequential number. The code is required for stamps on certain tobacco products and alcoholic drinks under PER‑17/BC/2025.
The personalized code enables tax authorities to verify that excise has been paid and to trace the product’s origin, thereby strengthening tax compliance and market supervision.
