East Lombok Regency Waives PBB-P2 Penalties for 2014‑2023

East Lombok Regency announced that penalties for overdue rural and urban property tax (PBB‑P2) from 2014 to 2023 will be waived. Taxpayers need only pay the principal tax amount. The waiver program is open until December 2025.

The waiver aims to raise the region’s original revenue (PAD), which had realized only about 60 % of its target by early November 2025. PAD currently accounts for roughly 12.6 % of the Rp3.4 trillion regional budget, making the regency reliant on central‑government transfers. Authorities also called on local tax teams to use reassuring communication in public outreach.

Eliminating penalties is expected to motivate taxpayers to settle the principal arrears, improving compliance and increasing PAD. The step also supports greater fiscal self‑reliance for the regency. Tax officials will track collection outcomes and report on progress toward the revenue target.
