In Karawang, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) announced on 11 December 2025 that it will consider extending the tax‑stamp (pita cukai) payment period from the current two months to 90 days beginning in 2026. The proposal will be evaluated against economic conditions and the performance of the tobacco industry.

The move mirrors a 90‑day payment relaxation applied from 2020 to 2024 during the Covid‑19 pandemic to ease cash flow for cigarette manufacturers facing higher Tobacco Excise (Cukai Hasil Tembakau, CHT) rates. Such an extension generally does not reduce annual tax revenue because any dues due after 31 December must still be settled by year‑end.

DJBC has already ordered roughly 25 million tax‑stamp sheets for the 2026 design, up from 17 million earlier this year, indicating optimism among tobacco firms. The order includes 24.3 million sheets for tobacco products and 310 000 sheets for alcoholic beverages, preparing supply for the upcoming fiscal year.
