Balikpapan Removes Expired Ads and Tax Delinquents
November 2, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Regional Tax and Retribution Management Agency (BPPDRD) of Balikpapan removed advertisements whose permits had expired and whose owners had not paid tax on Sunday, 2 November 2025. The enforcement team dismantled billboards, banners and signs at several strategic locations across the city.
Head of BPPDRD Idham said the action aims to preserve urban aesthetic order and improve tax compliance among advertising operators. The operation was carried out together with Satpol PP, the Public Works and Transportation Departments to target unlicensed or tax‑delinquent ads.
Illegal or expired ads can reduce the city’s potential tax revenue and disrupt safety and comfort for road users. By removing such ads, the city expects to boost its own‑source revenue (PAD) that funds Balikpapan’s development projects.
