Tax Director Fires 39 Staff in 4 Months, 2 Caught in OTT

Tax Director Bimo Wijayanto announced the dismissal of 39 Directorate General of Taxation employees for fraud and bribery during the taxpayers charter ceremony in West Jakarta on 16 October 2025. The terminations occurred within four months of his appointment.

The Inspector General of the Ministry of Finance carried out an operation tang‑hand (OTT) that arrested two staff members who had taken bribes from taxpayers while the Rapimnas meeting was in session. OTT refers to a direct investigative raid to catch violations. The arrests highlight ongoing breaches of the tax agency’s code of ethics.

Bimo stated the tax authority will keep purging misconduct and strengthen integrity while continuing regulatory reforms to improve transparency and accountability.
