Purbaya Places Rp200 Trillion in State Banks to Build Positive

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa placed Rp200 trillion in state‑owned banks on Wednesday, 29 October 2025. The placement was executed under Finance Minister Decree No. 276/2025.

Purbaya said the allocation aims to create positive expectations that can spur business expansion and household consumption, thereby driving economic growth through a self‑fulfilling prophecy. He noted that real impact depends on monetary‑authority policies that reinforce those expectations. The distribution assigns Rp55 trillion each to Mandiri, BRI and BNI, Rp25 trillion to BTN, and Rp10 trillion to BSI.

The injection has already boosted market optimism, as reflected by the Jakarta Composite Index reaching an all‑time high. Yet bank credit growth in September 2025 rose only modestly to 7.7 % year‑on‑year, similar to August’s 7.56 %. This suggests that while sentiment improves, immediate credit expansion remains limited.
