Prabowo Urges ASEAN‑Korea Cooperation, Digital Trade US$1

President Prabowo Subianto attended the 26th ASEAN‑Korea summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 28 October 2025. He highlighted a projection that digital trade in the region could reach US$1 trillion by 2030.

Digital trade, which includes e‑commerce, digital services and cross‑border data flows, is expected to become a major growth driver. Prabowo said a comprehensive ASEAN‑Republic of Korea (ROK) partnership is needed to strengthen regional supply chains, expand the free‑trade area and tap South Korea’s technology strengths.

Achieving the $1‑trillion level could boost regional GDP, create jobs and benefit taxpayers and businesses. Indonesia is expected to support further negotiations to deepen ASEAN‑Korea cooperation.
