National Nutrition Agency: 14,403 MBG Kitchens, 12,843 Operate

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) reports that a total of 14,403 free nutritious public kitchens (MBG) are either operating or being prepared. Of these, 12,843 nutrition service units (SPPG) are already operational, while 1,560 SPPG remain in the preparation stage.

SPPG verification follows a multi‑layered process—location check, readiness assessment, field survey, and eligibility determination—completed within a maximum of 45 days. New units are prioritized for regions lacking coverage, and this year’s state spending on MBG is estimated at IDR 99 trillion.

Taxes account for roughly 70 % of Indonesia’s state revenue, financing the MBG program. The 2026 state budget allocates IDR 335 trillion to MBG, far exceeding the current year’s allocation of IDR 171 trillion, which should expand quality nutrition services nationwide.
