MBG Program Expected 60 Million, Below 82.9 Million Target

JAKARTA – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) estimates that the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program will reach about 60 million beneficiaries by the end of 2025, well below the 82.9 million target set by President Prabowo Subianto. To date, 49 million people have received meals through 17,060 nutrition service units (SPPG) across Indonesia.
The original 2025 distribution goal was 17.5 million recipients, but the President raised it to 82.9 million after regional visits and public pressure. BGN head Dadan Hindayana said that field dynamics and the limited capacity of existing SPPG units hinder faster expansion.
BGN plans to add roughly 20,000 agglomeration SPPG and 300 remote SPPG by February 2026 to broaden coverage. Achieving a more realistic target will shape future national nutrition policy and budget allocations.
