Indonesia‑US Trade Talks Stall, Potential Rise in US Import

Washington, D.C., Dec 10, 2025 – Indonesia and the United States have not reached a final accord under their reciprocal trade agreement, according to a Financial Times report. Indonesia told the U.S. Trade Representative that it cannot meet several commitments outlined in the pact.
The disputed commitments involve eliminating non‑tariff barriers on U.S. manufactured and agricultural imports as well as digital trade restrictions. U.S.
Without the agreement, reciprocal tariffs on Indonesian goods entering the United States would rise from 19% to 32%, potentially reducing export competitiveness. Indonesia’s economic coordination ministry spokesperson said negotiations remain ongoing and both sides aim for a mutually beneficial outcome.
