Finance Minister Purbaya Visits Large Tax Office, Sets Targets

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa visited the Large Tax Office (Kanwil LTO) on 7 November 2025. The visit aimed to brief staff responsible for taxing large corporations and high‑net‑worth individuals.
Purbaya clarified that the decline in tax receipts up to September 2025 reflects the slowdown in economic growth rather than staff performance. According to the State Budget (APBN) Performance and Facts (KiTa) report, tax collection in the first half of 2025 reached Rp837.8 trillion (38 % of the Rp2,189.3 trillion target), rising to Rp1,273.35 trillion (58.16 % of target) by September.
The minister set a collection target of Rp734.714 trillion for the Large Tax Office this year and expressed confidence that national targets can be met through measures such as allocating Rp200 trillion to the State‑Owned Banks Association (Himbara) and tax incentives. He projected a 6 % economic growth in 2026 if the private sector operates optimally, which would broaden the tax base and ease the burden on taxpayers.
