Finance Minister Purbaya: Coretax Flaws Slow Tax Collection

Finance Minister Yudhi Sadewa Purbaya said the Coretax system’s design is inadequate, which slows tax collection. He noted that an external team has been assigned to analyze the issue. The remarks were made during a ministry briefing on 14 October 2025.

Coretax operates with multiple layered processes, and a large volume of data inputs can cause the system to hang or go down. Purbaya described the outer design as insufficiently sophisticated, leading to operational failures. The external analysis aims to pinpoint root causes and propose improvements.

Weaknesses in Coretax may reduce the efficiency of national tax revenue collection and affect government cash flow. The ministry plans a comprehensive evaluation and will open a complaint channel for businesses facing problems. These actions signal the ministry’s intent to strengthen tax administration.
