Cak Imin: Efficiency May Raise Protection Budget to Rp1,000T
November 1, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Coordinating Minister for Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) said on 1 November 2025 that the social protection budget could reach Rp1,000 trillion in the next fiscal year. The comment was made in Jakarta while discussing the 2026 State Budget (APBN) allocation.
The 2026 State Budget earmarks Rp508.2 trillion for social protection, but Cak Imin aims to raise it to Rp1,000 trillion through efficiency measures and shifting non‑targeted assistance. He advocates moving from short‑term charitable aid to productive assistance that fosters sustainable community self‑reliance.
The goal aligns with Presidential Instruction No.8/2025 on optimizing poverty eradication, which calls for coordination among ministries, agencies, and local governments. Achieving the higher budget could strengthen empowerment programs and help reduce extreme poverty.
