Balikpapan City Accelerates Hotel and Entertainment Tax Payments
November 5, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Balikpapan City intends to raise Goods and Services Tax (PBJT) revenue from hotels and entertainment venues before the year‑end. Dicky Hariyono, Head of Data and Assessment at the Regional Tax Office, announced the plan on 5 November 2025.
He noted that tourism and entertainment activity typically surge during the holiday season, creating higher tax potential for these sectors. The city will conduct taxpayer registration, covering delinquent businesses, new registrants, and those who have not filed, and will deploy field teams to monitor directly and issue notices when needed.
The initiative aims to help Balikpapan meet its Regional Original Revenue (PAD) target and fund public projects. Dicky also said other tax categories such as advertising, restaurants, and parking will continue to be optimized.
