Prabowo Orders BRIN Partner Agrinas to Accelerate Downstreaming

President Prabowo Subianto summoned BRIN head Arif Satria and deputy Amarulla Octavian to the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on 30 November 2025. He ordered BRIN to collaborate with state-owned Agrinas, which operates in food and energy, to speed up food downstream processing.

BRIN will establish a new fisheries research center to boost protein production, expanding self‑sufficiency beyond staple crops such as rice and corn. The directive also calls for support to strategic industries that generate significant employment, including garments, footwear, and electronics.

The measures aim to strengthen Indonesia’s food security and create research synergies between the national agency and the state enterprise, potentially increasing domestic output and job opportunities in the food and protein sectors.
