Police Probe Surge in Fatty Matter Exports Evading Oil Duties

JAKARTA, November 6, 2025 – The Indonesian National Police announced it will deepen investigations into non‑compliant palm oil exporters. Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo made the statement through the Special Task Force for State Revenue Optimization (Satgasus OPN) on Thursday.
Satgasus OPN recorded a 278% surge in fatty matter exports compared with previous years, rising from 19,383 tonnes in 2022 to 73,287 tonnes in 2025. Inspections revealed that some containers labeled as fatty matter actually contained crude palm oil (CPO) to evade export duties. Police, together with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC), seized 87 containers belonging to PT MMS.
The scheme exploits the duty exemption for fatty matter, creating a risk of state revenue loss. Police pledged to pursue legal action and expand monitoring of similar practices to close tax‑avoidance loopholes. Strengthening enforcement aims to improve exporter compliance and protect national revenue.
