Indonesia Tax Authority Prepares Property Data Exchange by 2029
December 11, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Indonesia's Directorate General of Taxes announced it will begin automatic exchange of cross‑border property ownership data in 2029‑2030. The exchange is governed by the Immovable Property Information Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement (IPI MCAA).
The agency is strengthening its database, integrating information systems, and coordinating with relevant authorities. The IPI MCAA, an OECD‑led initiative, includes at least 26 jurisdictions such as Belgium, Brazil, Chile and others.
The data exchange aims to boost tax compliance, expand the revenue base, and support international cooperation against tax evasion and illicit fund flows. Automatic sharing will facilitate monitoring of property holdings and rental income of foreign taxpayers.
