Indonesia's Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) inaugurated a new X‑ray container scanner equipped with radiation portal monitor technology at Terminal 3 of Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the system aims to boost security, speed, and transparency of import‑export flows.
The radiation portal monitor (RPM) can detect nuclear material or radioactive substances without opening containers, providing faster and more accurate inspections. DJBC also unveiled two digital tools: Self Service Report Mobile (SSR‑Mobile) for self‑service filing, and Trade AI, an artificial‑intelligence platform that flags under‑invoicing, over‑invoicing, and possible money‑laundering.
Together, the scanner, SSR‑Mobile, and Trade AI are expected to shorten customs clearance times, identify smuggling attempts earlier, and raise importer compliance, thereby improving overall trade efficiency.
