Customs Director Confident DJBC Reform Can Finish in One Year

Jakarta, 4 December 2025 – Customs and Excise Director Djaka Budhi Utama said the agency can be reformed within a year, in line with the Finance Minister’s target. The comment was made at a DJBC press briefing.

The overhaul will start by tightening supervision of goods traffic at ports and airports and by improving public services. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa gave the agency a one‑year deadline, warning that DJBC could be frozen and up to 16,000 staff could be rendered inactive if performance does not improve.

Successful reform would prevent a freeze, safeguard thousands of jobs and enhance the agency’s reputation among the public and business community.
