Argentina President Milei Plans to Eliminate 20 Taxes
November 2, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Argentina’s President Javier Milei announced a plan to eliminate 20 taxes after his party La Libertad Avanza secured 64 of 127 seats in the legislative election on 26 October 2025. The statement was made in Buenos Aires on 2 November 2025.
The proposal includes lowering tax rates, widening the tax base, and cutting payroll taxes to encourage firms to hire more workers. It will be accompanied by a reform of labor regulations that are said to generate high informality. Argentina currently has 165 different taxes administered by federal, provincial and local authorities.
The tax cuts are expected to boost formal employment and expand the private sector. The reforms aim to simplify a complex tax system without increasing overall fiscal pressure.
