Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula met Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on 23 Oct 2025. The leaders signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on trade and investment worth US$5 billion (about IDR 83.14 trillion).
Prabowo said the pact deepens economic, energy, and defence collaboration between the two nations. He also announced plans to create a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) similar to Indonesia’s deals with the EU and Canada.
The MoU highlights Indonesia and Brazil’s emergence as new economic powers in the Global South and creates market opportunities for firms in sectors such as energy, mining and SMEs across both countries.
